Dan Bau

Imagen
The Dan Bau is a unique instrument in its genre, both for its construction and for its execution technique.                                                                      Huuc Bac Quach It is a monochord from which only natural harmonics are obtained. In its structure there is no diapason on which to press the string to vary its length with it, so the performer places the song of the right hand in those places where the natural harmonics reside, at the same time that with the same hand it holds a long plectrum with which you press the string. The ends of this one are subject to two bridges. One is fixed, but the other, which is mobile, consists of a flexible rod made of buffalo horn. The left hand handles said rod, tensing and loosening the rope in each note. Although the instrument may seem limi...

The secret of the book of Kells

Imagen
Movie "The secret of the book of Kells" Director: Tomm Moore. Music by Bruno Coulais (The Choristes (2004), The Worlds of Coraline (2009), Microcosm (1996), Nomads of the Wind (2001). Protagonists: Brendan, the monk, Aisling, the fairy. It is a prodigy of color and form, of Gregorian and Celtic music, with simple drawing, of circles, rectangles and flat figures. It is not a movie to entertain. It is an artistic product, an incredible work of aesthetic order. It is a work of art. It is a piece of museum, to view it many times, and to be documented from its plot, because it awakens the curiosity to know more. Celtic music is played by the Irish folk group "Kira". There are Irish mythological elements, such as the "Crom Cruach", deity of pre-Christian Ireland, which is in the "cave of the dark". I get the impression that the snowflakes look like Celtic "runes". It is appropriate to say that Irish calligraphy is an art in itself...

El secreto del Libro de Kells

Imagen

Serving the same master, by Juan Manuel de Prada

Serving the same master, by Juan Manuel de Prada (XLSEMANAL January 20, 2019) I summarize the clairvoyant article by Juan Manuel de Prada: Capitalism imposes an impersonal civilization, creates an anti-family and antinatalist mentality. (Chesterton, The Outline of Sanity). Capitalism has destroyed the family, encouraged divorces, despised the old domestic virtues, provoked a struggle between the sexes, destroyed the authority of the fathers, removed men from their homes in search of work. (Chesterton, The Well and the Shallows). On the other hand, there is communism, the base of the left, which is based on a cultural Marxism. The right declares itself capitalist, and falls into the contradiction of being in favor of the family and contrary to gender policies but follows the liberal ideology of revision and adaptation to the modern world. So, right and left, capitalism and communism serve the same master, and have as an ideology liberalism, which seek...

(Chesterton, The Outline of Sanity ). (Chesterton, The Well and the Shallows ).

Fake camera Camera that I sold her Fake camera Camera that I sold her Yesterday something happened to me that made me think. A person is capable of lying to earn a few euros. How much you will not lie to earn millions? A month ago I sold my Sony video camera for € 50 to a lady through wallapop. All right, we were in a park and in the conversation she told me that she had seen the camera and it was identical to her, that it did not work. I wanted it because I knew how to use it, and despite using miniDV tapes (something already obsolete), I had that sentimental whim of having it back. Yesterday I see in the wallapop chat that she wants to see me because the camera that I sold her does not work. I tell her I'm not a technician, but I can see her again to see if I can help her. We meet in the park and she shows me the camera. I would have liked to see my own face of amazement. The camera was scratched, dirty, with shock signals. It was normal that it did not wor...
