Film Review: "The History teacher".
This film is based on a true story about Ms Anna Guenguen, who is a History teacher at a secondary school in France. Her pupils are not different from the rest, but probably a bit lazier than others.
She must always begin her lessons with phrases like: "Out your bags!", "Out your caps!", "Out your phones!", "Out your chewing-gums!". Everyday she tells them that they must have their books on the table and be quiet.
To get good results, Ms Gueguen decides to take part in a national competition titled "Children and teenagers in the Nazi Concentration Camps System". In that moment, the guys change their minds. They start to read a lot of books, like: "Anna Frank's Diary", or "One life" by Simone Veil. They get to understand the meaning of "Shoa" (annihilation in Hebrew) and they begin to work in a team. They are impressed by the numbers of tattoos on the arms of the prisoners, even children. They listen to a survivor of the camps: Leon Zyguel. They attend to exhibition in a museum dedicated to this dark period of history. This experience changes their lives.
In my opinion, it is worth watching this film because we look at the teenagers in communication with teenagers victims of nazism. The soundtrack also helps to feel the history due to pieces of classic music such as Schumann, Ravel or Debussy.
